US domestic airfares rose 10.7% in 3rd quarter of 2010: Newark had the highest and Atlantic City the lowest

The US Bureau of Transportation Statistics has released its quarterly survey of domestic airfares for the top 100 US airports. According to the study, nationally, the airfares have risen 10.7%. Newark,NJ (EWR) had the highest airfare in the country at at $469 and Atlantic City, NJ has the lowest at $153.     I live in North Jersey. No wonder EWR ranked at the top. Continental’s fortress hub shields any meaningful low fare competition. New Yorkers looking for cheaper fares have to go JFK thanks to JetBlue. But trekking to JFK is a real adventure.
